Diego was born on May 24 in Bogotá, a city bustling with life and culture. His best quality was his ability to form good relationships with others. Diego had always been friendly and approachable, making friends wherever he went. His parents often told him that his smile could light up a room, and his teachers noted how he had a natural talent for bringing people together.

When Diego’s family moved to a new neighborhood, he was enrolled in a different school. On his first day, Diego felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. He wondered if he would be able to make friends as easily in this new environment. As he walked through the school gates, he noticed groups of students chatting and laughing. Determined to make a good impression, Diego took a deep breath and approached a group of boys playing soccer on the field.

«Hi, can I join you?» Diego asked with a friendly smile.

The boys stopped and looked at him. One of them, a tall and athletic boy named Edward, grinned and tossed the ball to Diego. «Sure! I’m Edward, and these are my friends Nicolas and Santiago.»

Diego quickly introduced himself and joined the game. Edward was energetic and competitive, always pushing himself to do better. Nicolas, who wore glasses and had a thoughtful expression, was more reserved but incredibly smart. Santiago, with his curly hair and easygoing nature, brought a sense of fun to the group.

As they played, Diego noticed how well the boys worked together, encouraging each other and celebrating their successes. By the end of the game, Diego felt like he had known them for much longer than just a few hours. They invited him to sit with them during lunch, and Diego gladly accepted.

During lunch, they chatted about their interests and hobbies. Diego learned that Nicolas loved reading and was a bit of a science enthusiast. Santiago enjoyed drawing and had a knack for making people laugh. Edward, as expected, was passionate about sports and was on the school’s soccer team.

A few days later, another boy named Jeronimo joined their group. Jeronimo had a mischievous grin and a quick wit. He could always be counted on to come up with a clever joke or a playful prank. Despite his playful nature, Jeronimo was loyal and caring, always looking out for his friends.

The five boys quickly became inseparable. They spent their recesses playing soccer, exploring the school grounds, and sharing stories. Diego was thrilled to have found such good friends so quickly. Despite the change in schools, he felt right at home.

As the school year progressed, Diego and his friends faced various challenges. There were exams to study for, projects to complete, and sports competitions to prepare for. Through it all, they supported each other, sharing their strengths and helping each other overcome their weaknesses.

One day, Diego noticed that Nicolas seemed unusually quiet. He found Nicolas sitting alone in the library, staring at his textbook with a troubled expression.

«Hey, Nicolas, what’s up?» Diego asked, sitting down next to him.

Nicolas sighed. «I have a big science test coming up, and I’m really nervous about it. I feel like no matter how much I study, I won’t be able to remember everything.»

Diego thought for a moment. «How about we study together? I can help you with some of the topics you’re struggling with, and you can explain the ones you understand better. We can do this together.»

Nicolas looked relieved. «Thanks, Diego. That would really help.»

For the next few days, Diego and Nicolas spent their afternoons studying together. Diego’s encouragement and support boosted Nicolas’s confidence, and when the day of the test arrived, Nicolas felt much more prepared. He ended up doing well on the test, and he was grateful to Diego for his help.

Another time, it was Edward who needed support. He had injured his leg during a soccer match and was unable to play for several weeks. Edward was devastated, as soccer was his passion and his main way of relieving stress.

Seeing his friend’s frustration, Santiago came up with an idea. «Hey, Edward, how about we all learn some new skills while you recover? We can try different activities, and when you’re back on your feet, we’ll be even better at soccer because we’ll be more well-rounded.»

Edward was hesitant at first, but he agreed to give it a try. The boys decided to take up painting, something Santiago was quite good at. At first, it was a bit awkward, with paint splattering and more than a few laughs at their messy attempts. But over time, they began to enjoy it, and Edward found a new way to express himself creatively.

Jeronimo, always the joker, suggested they try writing funny stories together. This turned out to be a hit, with each boy contributing his own ideas and humor. They ended up compiling a small book of their stories, which they shared with their classmates, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who read it.

As the end of the school year approached, Diego and his friends faced another significant change. Nicolas’s family announced that they would be moving to another city. The news hit the group hard. They had grown so close over the year, and the thought of losing one of their friends was difficult to bear.

On Nicolas’s last day at school, the group decided to throw him a surprise farewell party. They decorated the classroom with balloons and banners, and each of them wrote a heartfelt letter to Nicolas, expressing their gratitude for his friendship and their best wishes for his future.

When Nicolas walked into the classroom and saw the decorations and his friends waiting for him, he was overwhelmed with emotion. «You guys are the best,» he said, hugging each of them.

Diego handed Nicolas a scrapbook they had made, filled with photos, drawings, and memories from their time together. «We wanted you to have something to remember us by,» Diego said.

Nicolas smiled through his tears. «I’ll never forget you guys. You’ve been the best friends I could have ever asked for.»

Although it was difficult to say goodbye, Diego and his friends promised to keep in touch with Nicolas. They exchanged phone numbers and email addresses, vowing to stay connected despite the distance.

The new school year brought even more changes. New students joined the school, and Diego found himself making more friends. He was initially worried that the dynamics of their group might change, but he soon realized that change could be a good thing. It allowed them to meet new people and have new experiences while still maintaining their close bond.
